LudwigII

Ludwig Otto Friedrich Wilhelm (c.25 August 1845-13 June 1886) was also known as King Ludwig II of Bavaria. He was best known as an eccentric whose legacy was intertwined with the history of art and architecture. He commissioned the construction of several extravagant fantasy castles and palaces, the most famous being Neuschwanstein, and was a devoted patron of the composer Richard Wagner. He is believed to be a Keeper of the Journal.

Keeper of the JournalEdit

It is presently unknown when and where Ludwig encountered the Shepherd's Journal. It is most likely that he viewed the Journal when it was kept at the British Museum. While unfamiliar with the written language the Journal contained, he was likely fascinated by the illustrations of the Atlantean architecture and used them as inspiration for the castles and palaces he would commission to have constructed. While his continuing attempts to have such structures built while Bavaria was financially unstable led to his downfall, the buildings that were completed have gone on to become some of the most popular tourist attractions in all of Europe today.
